About Erin

Erin Shaheen (she/her) M.Ed, RSSW

Registed Social Service Worker and Psychotherapist

I have been providing education and support to families for over twenty five years. After receiving my Social Service Worker Diploma in 1993, I worked in the area of mental health and homelessness for 7 years before joining the birth community with the Ottawa Childbirth Education Association. Following a passion for lifelong learning, I returned to school to complete a Master’s in Education for Healthcare Professionals, in 2018.

Over the last 30 years, I have worked in a variety of front-line organizations supporting mental health, housing and case management and as a Disabilities Counsellor / Learning Strategist at a post-secondary institution. Education has been my passion. I have had the honour of presenting at the High Incidence Disabilities Conference in 2024, and the Gold Symposium in 2020 on maternal health and the impact of community supports.  I am very familiar with student services in post-secondary and maternal health.

Life is full of launching moments; launching into pregnancy, parenting, post-secondary, or empty nesting. My passion is supporting parents and individuals in solution-focused counselling to feel supported while you move closer to launching into a new direction in life.

The real-life details: I am a lover of coffee, dependent on colourful sticky notes and all things wool and quilting. I have more work-in-progress craft projects than I will readily admit to. I am a proud parent to four amazing humans, including twins. Intimately familiar with lived experiences as a parent of neurodivergent children and late-identified ADHD myself. I hope to weave my colourful work experiences and community work into offering practical solutions to support you in your own self-exploration.
